What RO Filters Out of Your Home’s Water

Our Reverse Osmosis systems remove up to 98% of PFOA/PFOS and other contaminants through cutting-edge, multi-stage filtration for the ultimate water experience.

Viruses

Can cause stomach illnesses and serious health risks, especially for vulnerable populations.

Bacteria

Pathogens may cause diarrhea, vomiting, cramps, nausea, headaches, fever, and fatigue.

Sediment

Silt, sand, and dirt can leech into water causing a foul smell, bad taste, and gritty texture.

How Our Home Reverse Osmosis System Works

Our RO home systems are unique and effective because they involve not one but four filtration steps, from the initial sediment filter to the final post-carbon filter. The result is the cleanest possible drinking water. Here’s how our RO system works.

1. Sediment filter

The sediment filter removes bigger particles like dirt, sand, and rust, which helps protect the system’s main parts from damage.

2. Pre-carbon block

The pre-carbon block helps prevent contaminants from passing through and chemical compounds, such as chlorine and chloramines, that are not removed by reverse osmosis alone.

3. Reverse osmosis membrane

This is where the magic happens. Water is forced through a semipermeable membrane, where tiny pores in the membrane block harmful contaminants and dissolved chemicals while allowing purified water to flow through.

4. Post-carbon filter

The post-carbon filter polishes the water, removing any leftover taste or smell.

What Makes Our RO Home System Different?

Reverse osmosis helps reduce:

  • Disinfection chemicals (Cl & NH2Cl)

  • Disinfection byproducts (THMs & chloroform)

  • Organic compounds (VOCs & SOCs)

  • Sediment

  • Inorganic chemicals, metals, and other high-risk contaminants (lead, copper, arsenic, pharmaceuticals, fluoride, etc.)

Reverse osmosis is a water filtration process with four stages: sediment filter, pre-carbon block, reverse osmosis membrane, and post-carbon filter. Pressure pushes water through a membrane that filters out heavier molecules like sodium, lead, and fluoride.
Yes. It improves taste and odor by reducing chlorine, lead, copper, and other unpleasant substances, resulting in healthier and better-tasting water.
An RO system filters out heavy metals, chemicals, and high-risk contaminants (like lead, arsenic, PFOS/PFOAs). It provides cleaner, crisper water, saves money, and reduces reliance on bottled water.
Yes. RO can be used with other water filtration systems for well water.
It may slightly impact flow, but Leaf Home RO systems are designed to maintain strong pressure for household use.
Costs vary by water quality. During the free consultation, a water expert will test your water and recommend a customized solution.
RO is a point-of-use solution for drinking water and can be combined with other filters for whole-house systems. A free consultation helps determine the best solution for your water.
It connects to your main water supply line. Professional installation is recommended. Leaf Home offers free white-glove installation to ensure proper setup.
